Requirements
National Senior Certificate, National Diploma NQF level 6 in Mechanical Engineering (T/N/S Streams) OR N3 and passed trade test Mechanical within built environment), OR Registration as an Engineering Technician (Mechanical). 1-2 years’ relevant experience. A valid driver’s license. Knowledge and Skills: Buildings Regulations, Quality Control of all buildings works, Management of people. Risk. Change and promotion of teamwork. OHS Act. Good Verbal, written and communication Skills. Conflict Management skills. Computer literacy. Client orientation and customer focus skills. Report writing skills. Self-Management.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct Inspections or maintenance on work undertaken on project sites to ensure that it is being done in compliance with all relevant regulations and legislation and that proper quality control is being maintained. Compile an estimate of repairs and costs for minor new work and maintenance work to be undertaken. Maintain an electronic record system for work being done and work that was finalized. Develop progress reports on outstanding and finalised 113 work. Advice and guide contractors in respect of the compliance to legislation and procedures. Inspect work documents by contractors to determine whether it is in compliance with all relevant prescribed standards. Compile and process variation orders and requests for the extension of deadlines. Compile payment documents. Ensure effective contract administration. Timeous development of reports on problems emanating from projects. Gather and submit information in terms of the expanded public works programme (EPW). Develop and interpret plans and sketches. Draw up quotation documents and compile specifications, bills of quantities and bid documents. Participate in the adjudication process and provide recommendations quotations. Liaise with relevant stakeholders in respect of technical aspects.
