Built by someone who lived the frustration
My name is Justin Groom. I grew up in East London — now officially KuGompo — in the Eastern Cape. Government jobs are some of the most stable, most sought-after work in this province. And applying for them is a nightmare.
The problem
Every Friday the DPSA releases a new vacancy circular. It's a PDF — sometimes 150 pages, sometimes 200. No search. No filters. No way to know if the job you're perfect for is buried on page 94 under a department name you've never heard of. You scroll. And scroll. And scroll.
Then you find something. Now you need to fill in a Z83 form. From scratch. Again. Every single application gets its own Z83, and every Z83 asks for the same information — your full name, ID number, qualifications, work history, references — typed or handwritten again from the beginning. Miss the reference number? Application rejected. Wrong department address? Never received. Apply one day after the closing date? Gone.
Then you get shortlisted. Congratulations — now you need certified copies of everything. ID, qualifications, registration certificates. Where did you put those? When were they certified? Are they expired? The scramble starts all over again.
I lived this. I watched people around me live this. It's not that government jobs are impossible to get — it's that the application process is designed in a way that filters out people who can't navigate bureaucracy, regardless of how qualified they are. That's the problem Groco exists to fix.
What Groco does about it
Search and filter every vacancy
Every Friday's circular is automatically parsed and loaded into a searchable database. Filter by province, department, salary level, or keyword. No more scrolling.
Z83 pre-fill
Save your details once — name, ID, qualifications, work history — and Groco fills in the Z83 automatically for any job you apply to. One click.
Certification Vault
Upload your certified documents. Groco tracks their expiry dates and reminds you when they're about to lapse — so you're never caught scrambling when you get shortlisted.
Job alerts
Set your preferences and get a weekly email with new vacancies matched to your province and field. Know about relevant jobs the day the circular drops.
"Government jobs should be accessible to everyone — not just people who know how to navigate bureaucracy."
Groco will always be free to search and browse. Every vacancy comes straight from the official DPSA circular — no sponsored listings, no promoted jobs. Real opportunities, presented clearly.
If Groco helped you find a job — or even just saved you an hour of PDF scrolling — that is the whole point. Reach me anytime at justingroom98@gmail.com. I read every message.
Built with love from East London, Eastern Cape.
