Senior State Accountant: Finance

Requirements

An appropriate B Degree (NQF level 7) / Three (3) year Diploma (NQF level 6) in Financial Management or equivalent. Minimum of two (2) years’ working experience. Requisite experience in processing payments in BAS, LOGIS and PERSAL. In depth knowledge in processing suppliers, Travel Agency payments and employee allowances (e.g. Travel and subsistence and cell phone claims). Knowledge of supplier reconciliation. Demonstrable competency in acting Independently, Professionally, Accountable and with Credibility. In depth knowledge of PFMA, Treasury Regulations and relevant prescripts. Knowledge of legislation and regulations pertaining to public service administration. Knowledge of LOGIS, PERSAL and BAS systems. Ability to work independently and under pressure. Willingness to travel to other regional 89 offices. Problem solving skills. General computer literacy and knowledge of programs in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Good communication skills, verbal and written. Knowledge of Public Service Regulations and Performance Management and Monitoring.

Key Responsibilities

Authorize supplier payments and claims such as Travel and Subsistence and cell phones. Track processed payments on the tracking system. Perform supplier reconciliation. Maintain proper filing system of payments. Manage donor funding. Provide support to auditors and business units. Maintain clearing of suspense accounts. Providing reports to management. Excellent presentation skills. Manage scanned batches. Attend to all related queries in the unit. Supervise and train subordinates.
