Requirements
Grade 10 (NQF level 2) or equivalent qualification. Private Security Industry Regulation Act (PSiRA) certificate. No experience required. All shortlisted candidates, including SMS, shall undertake two pre-entry assessments. One must be a practical exercise, and the other must be an Integrity (Ethical Conduct) Assessment. Knowledge of the access control procedure. Knowledge of measures for the control and movement of equipment. Knowledge of prescribed security procedures (e.g. MISS, NISA, Protection of information Act, etc.) and the authority of security officer under these documents. Knowledge of the relevant emergency procedures. Security processes and procedures. Departmental and Public Service prescripts. CCTV operations. Communication skills (written and spoken), Organizational and planning. Decision-making skills. Ability to work long hours voluntarily. Ability to work independently in a team. Ability to work under extreme pressure. Conflict management and resolution.
Key Responsibilities
Perform access control. Identify suspicious conduct. Ensure that unauthorised persons and dangerous objects do not enter the building/ premises. Estcourt visitors to the relevant employee /venue when required. Ensure that no equipment and assets of the department leave the building/ premises unauthorised. Perform proper lock up for all offices and access points. Operate and monitor control room security equipment. Ensure safety in the building and premises. Undertake building /premises patrols to identify and check. Lock or unlock main doors and trellidoors as required. Note offices that have been left unlocked and lock the mentioned office. Fire hazards exposed electronical 22 contacts and other fire hazards emanating from instance. Apply emergency procedures and alert emergency services and departmental management. Provide receptionist services. Ensure safety of staff and visitors. Ensure all incidents are recorded in the occurrence book/register. Ensure that the occurrence register and other registers are kept up to date. Ensure that visitors entering the forests have an approved Licence as per NFA. Assist with fire management in the forest as required. Obtain feedback from the supervisor on incidents reported. Report on missing and stolen equipment and stores.
