Requirements
Senior Certificate / Grade 12 plus Basic qualification accredited with the SANC in terms of Government Notice (I.E. Diploma/ Degree in General Nursing) equivalent qualification that allows registration with the SANC as Professional Nurse (2026). Grade 1: A minimum of 0-10 year’s appropriate / recognizable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing. Ability to function independently and to prioritize work. Leadership and sound interpersonal skills, problem solving and decision- making skills. Knowledge of Public Service Policies, Acts and regulations, Knowledge of SANC rules and regulations, Knowledge of the District Health Care system and referral pathways. Good communication. Leadership, 174 interpersonal and decision-making and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of Code of Conduct, Labour Relations, Conflict management and negotiation skills, Ability to function well within a team, Skills in organizing, planning and supervising, Knowledge of Batho Pele principles and patients’ rights charter. Knowledge of Labor relations and handling grievances and disciplinary procedures, Clear understanding of malaria management, Understanding clinical, treatment guidelines and protocols. Good knowledge of Malaria Elimination strategies. Valid code 10 (C1) drivers’ license (Please attach copy), Experience in malaria control will be an added advantage.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and manage malaria onsite malaria testing and treatment activities. Conduct clinical assessment of signs and symptoms of Malaria. Screening and Diagnoses. Notification of all positive cases. Administration of ACT to positive clients. Conduct follow-up visits to treat patients. Manage and monitor Human Resources activities within the malaria sector, Conduct Health Education and training within the sector’s localities and facilities. Perform a clinical nursing practice in accordance with the scope of practice and nursing standards. Promote quality of nursing care as directed by the professional scope of practice and standards. Work as part of the malaria multi-disciplinary team to ensure good malaria management. Display a concern for patients, promoting and advocating proper treatment and care including awareness and willingness to respond to patient needs, requirements and expectations (Batho Pele). Monitor & manage malaria data within scope of duties. Assist with data quality checks.
