Requirements
An appropriate bachelor's degree/ advanced diploma (NQF Level 6) in Psychology/ Behavioural Science/ Social Work majoring in Psychology. A minimum of one (1) to two (2) years of practical experience in the Employee Health and Wellness environment. Knowledge of HIV, STIs and TB legislation and related policies. Knowledge of Employee Health and Wellness Strategic Framework in the Public Service with a focus on HIV, STIs and TB, Health and Productivity, and Wellness Management Pillars. Competent in conducting short term counselling, psychoeducation, and trauma defusing and debriefing. Knowledge of the Mental Health Care Act, EHWP related legislations and understanding of all PILIR processes and COID Act. Registration with the following statutory bodies is compulsory: South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP) as a social worker, Health Professions Council of South Africa as a counselling/clinical psychologist or registered counsellor. Registration with the relevant professional bodies like Employee Assistance Professionals Association of South Africa (EAPA-SA), South African Occupational Social Work Association (SAOSWA) and Association for Supportive Counsellors and Holistic Practitioners (ASCHP) and others will be an added advantage. Good interpersonal relations skills, communication skills (verbal and written). Analytical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills, Innovative and creative, project management skills, presentation skills, planning and organising skills, report writing skills, good coordination skills, counselling skills, client orientation, ethical and maintaining confidentiality. Understanding of Public Service legislation, regulations, and policies. Computer literacy in MS Word, excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. A valid drivers’ license.
Key Responsibilities
Promotion of the Employee Health and Wellness Programmes, refer employees with substance abuse disorders to external organisations and produce reports of formal referrals, promotion of physical wellness of employees through sports programmes, implementation of wellness campaigns including mental health awareness, reduce mental illness stigma and others as per the customised health calendar, provide work-life balance services, implementation of stress and financial management workshops including pre-retirement planning programme workshops to ensure financial wellness, implementation of HIV, STIs and TB, health and productivity awareness campaigns, promotion of reasonable accommodation for employees with health conditions, and promotion of disease and chronic illness management. Conduct counselling, psychoeducation, and trauma debriefing. Facilitate bereavement processes and support bereaved families, compile section reports on weekly and monthly basis including submissions, memorandums, and other correspondence required, ensure clients files are 88 updated and kept safe. N.B. All shortlisted candidates will be required to complete a relevant competency exercise.
