An appropriate B-degree (NQF Level 7) or Three (3) year Diploma (NQF level 6) in the field of Communication/ Journalism or equivalent. Minimum five (5) years’ experience in the communication field. Knowledge of legislation and regulations pertaining to public service administration, specifically: The NPA Act, Criminal Procedure Act, Information Management, Legal Administration, Legal Jargon, Prescripts and internal control and risk management. Demonstrable competency in acting Independently, Professionally, Accountable and with Credibility. Teamwork, Time management and change management. Good knowledge of government programme, project management and coordination skills, client orientation and customer focus, communication skills and computer literacy. Strategic capability and leadership, administration skills, communication, planning and prioritising, customer focused and responsiveness, problem solving and decision making. Negotiation skills/persuasion and influencing. Valid driver’s licence.
Key Responsibilities
Spokesperson for the Division and Director of Public Prosecutions (DDP), communicating on high-profile matters. Provide communication advisory to the DPP, management and prosecutors in the Division. Providing sound media relation and communicating NPA decisions and achievements. Manage relationships with key media players to secure and grow media coverage of Divisional performance. Answering enquiries from the press/media representatives and other stakeholders. Writing, editing and distributing press releases and news reports about the work of the organization in the Division. Ensure coverage in mainstream, community media in the region and develop 87 appropriate messages for dissemination on mainstream, local and community media. Organise and manage key events, including large scale exhibitions (Randshow/ Tshwane and the Royal show) and initiatives that take advantage of opportunities for members of the prosecution service engage with vulnerable groups/ victims of crime, to provide access to the organisation and to raise awareness about NPA work. Manage/lead public education campaigns for the Division (including media). Project manage community outreach events for the Division. Develop and maintain stakeholder engagement internationally, nationally, locally and cluster level with both internal partners within the JCPS as well as external partners within the public and private sector. Manage the content and production of the DPP’s/Divisional newsletter and ensure appropriate corporate identity. Act as a liaison between Head Office and the Division on key internal projects including events and webinars.
