Assistant Director: Public Transport Services

Requirements

A National Senior Certificate / an equivalent plus an appropriate undergraduate qualification (NQF 6) in Transport Management / Transport Management / Transport Economics / Logistics or an equivalent qualification in the relevant field / area as recognized by the South African Qualification Authority SAQA). 3 years’ experience at supervisory level in the same or related field. Valid Driver’s Licence (Except for people with disabilities).Core And Process Competencies: People Management, Financial Management, Problem Solving, Planning & organizing, Time Management, Good Communication skills, Facilitation and presentation skills, Conflict resolution skills, Computer literacy, Change management, Performance Management, Written and verbal communication skills, Client orientation and customer focus, Project Management, Problem Solving and Analysis, Client Orientation and Customer Focus, Communication. Knowledge And Skills: Knowledge of National Land Transport Act, 5 of 2009 and its regulations, Knowledge of all Public Transport products and programs, Public Transport history and current situation in SA, Financial Management & PFMA, Supply Chain Management, Labour Relation Act, Sound and in-depth knowledge of relevant prescripts and understanding of the legislative framework governing the Public Service i.e. Public Service Act, Public Service Regulations, Negotiation Skills, People Management, Financial Solving, Planning & Organizing, Time Management, Strategic Planning, Policy Analysis and Development, Good Communication Skills, Group dynamics, Diversity Management-ordination Skills, Leadership Skills.

Key Responsibilities

Monitor the provision of subsidized public transport services. Coordinate empowerment programmes for public transport operators. Provide technical support to municipalities. Monitoring illegal public transport operations and liaison with law enforcement.
