Requirements
An appropriate recognised three-year qualification in Education, Curriculum Studies, Education Technology, Open/Distance Learning, Institutional Design or related field. A relevant postgraduate qualification will be an added advantage. Relevant experience in TVET/post school curriculum implementation, teaching and learning, e-learning/LMS implementation, instructional design or academic development, with demonstrated coordination. At least three years at supervisory level. Sound knowledge of NC(V), occupational and other applicable Ministerial programmes and 31 curriculum implementation requirements. Practical knowledge of Moodle or a comparable Learning Management System, including course design, quizzes, assignments, resource management and learning analytics. Knowledge of blended, remote and distance learning principles, digital learning material development, copyright/OER considerations and online assessment integrity. Ability to train and support lecturers, manage projects, analyse academic performance and prepare management reports. Ability to develop academically sound and costed concepts for short courses, continuing education and remote learning offerings in collaboration with Finance and Partnerships and Linkages. Computer Literacy and a valid driving license. Skills: Curriculum implementation and quality assurance, digital/blended/remote teaching, Moodle/LMS academic Implementation, Instructional design and learning- material development, lecturer development and facilitation, Data analytics and learning analytics, project and change management, business-case development and innovation, stakeholder management, strong communication and report-writing skills. Extensive knowledge of relevant academic governance, assessment and moderation processes, including the Continuing Education and Training Colleges Act, 2006 (CET Act) and the General and Further Education and Training Quality Assurance Act, 2001 (Act No. 58 of 2001).
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate and monitor implementation of Ministerial programmes. Ensure curriculum coverage and compliance with DHET curriculum requirements, coordinate teaching plans, pacing schedules and academic improvement interventions, lead implementation of blended, online and distance learning. Manage institutional utilisation of Moodle and other approved learning platforms. Coordinate development and quality assurance of digital learning content, promote online quizzes, virtual classrooms, simulations and technology-enabled teaching. Monitor lecturer and student participation on digital learning platforms. Coordinate lecturer development in digital teaching methodologies, support student digital literacy and online learning access. Develop and monitor distance-learning delivery models, collaborate with ICT and relevant partners on digital learning infrastructure and innovation. Monitor the impact of digital learning on student performance and access, prepare curriculum implementation and digital learning reports, support expansion of flexible learning opportunities and alternative revenue-generating programme delivery in collaboration with finance and Linkages and Partnerships. Supervise staff and manage the performance of the portfolio.
